Globally, cities are home to half of the world’s people.
While cities are growing, the number of people living in urban poverty is increasing.
The convergence of rapid urbanization and climate change has plunged disadvantaged groups into more vulnerability.
Currently, over a billion people are residing in informal settlements and the figure is set to double by 2050.
The session will use case studies to highlight how the resilience capacity of informal settlements has been enhanced using grassroots and women-led driven approaches.
With a particular focus on triggering further reflection on replication and scaling up, particular focus will be directed on key challenges and enables as well as exploring potential pathways that can help achieve scaling up and sustainable replication of demonstrated pilots.
