Advanced nuclear energy technologies are emerging as an attractive option to replace coal generation. These designs are well-suited to match the capacity and dispatchability of fossil generation while requiring a comparable workforce and long-term employment prospects. This panel will assess the opportunities for advanced nuclear to facilitate the transition away from coal generation towards an infrastructure that supports a reliable low-emission power sector while meeting the needs of communities. The panel will include government, private sector and research perspectives while also examining the prospects for this transition in different countries.
